THE ENTRANCE OF THE CANADIAN ART COMMUNITY WITHIN THE DIGITAL ERA
SYNOPSIS

Unveiling a bold vision for the future of arts in Canada, the "Art in a Digital World Summit" in 2017 was an event that transcended the typical boundaries of a conference.

The three-day summit, led by our affiliate Franck in collaboration with Atmosphere Group, immersed 300 participants from diverse arts sectors into a stunning visual and auditory experience that went beyond mere presentations. The event had dual objectives: launching an ambitious $88.5M Digital Strategy Fund and enabling the arts community to co-create its investment guidelines.

The design and execution of this experience deftly broke down taboos and resistance towards adopting new technologies, leading the arts community into a more engaged, collaborative digital era. The event was more than a milestone; it was a transformative junction that set the Canadian arts community on a collective path towards an innovative digital landscape.-

Program Design

Franck and his team orchestrated a masterful program design that went beyond traditional summits. The cornerstone was a stakeholder alignment workshop aimed at clearly defining objectives, challenges, and paths to experiential solutions. Through careful selection, attendees were a diverse representation of the arts community, embodying both the mainstream and the marginalized. The program was brought to life through a well-defined brand system that tied into objectives, topics, key messages, agenda and the overall aesthetics of the event.

Franck ensured that technology wasn't just a backdrop but an integral part of participant engagement. The agenda featured not just keynotes but a dynamic blend of large-scale workshops, expert-led round tables, specialized breakout sessions, technology exhibits, and networking spaces. The experience was enveloped in an atmosphere of innovation and interactivity, setting a new standard for what a summit could be.

CONTENT COMMUNICATIONS

Franck worked in sync with the council's team to devise a brand system. Using carefully selected icons and color codes, this system distilled a complex set of topics into an easily digestible agenda for attendees. The system was integrated across various platforms—from a specialized community app, workshops and activities, light effects and projections, prints and live event signage. Additionally, Franck teams co-curated a panel of esteemed subject matter experts to deepen the discussions. A comprehensive communication campaign was crafted, including the event web page, digital invites, and timely reminders. A live Twitter wall further amplified engagement, linking attendees, council executives, and the broader Canadian art community.

PRODUCTION

Under Franck’s oversight and collaborators hard work, the summit’s production was a marvel of precision and aesthetics. The layout of the venue was strategically designed to serve the event’s experiential objectives, from the inspiring decor to the innovative lighting. Different zones were intelligently placed within the Arsenal venue, featuring art galleries as breakout rooms and a tech-fueled "Idea Boost" area. All of these elements, along with simultaneous translation and live video capture, came together seamlessly to make the summit a masterpiece in event production.
